La Grande Jatte

The art lovers among you may recognise that the placement of these characters is derived from Seurat’s Sunday on the Island of Grand Jatte. This animation (very much a work in progress) was derived from an earlier Lightship Visual poster we put together to celebrate 100 years of women’s suffrage in Western Australia. Seurat’s painting was from (roughly) a century before our poster. Stuart made a conceptual art connection between the dots in Seurat’s pointilist technique and the dots in CMYK printing and the pixels in RGB output. Hmm … maybe this belongs in our Research section.
